I have moved... come visit

Dear Friends,

I just realized that I forgot to announce this officialy over here that I have moved to a "real" website so as of now on you can find me over here:

Blogger has been a very useful platform to start with but since quite a while I had the feeling it is time for me to move to my own website. The site is much clearer, things are easier to find and it is connected to my other social media platforms, therefore it provides a better experience and I really would like to invite you to have a look and experiment it, hoping you will enjoy it as much as I do.

I just wanted to thank you all for your presence here and I really hope to see you all over there.

Have a wonderful day,

Mihaela

Happy New Year

First of all Happy New Year everyone and may this new year give you the courage to be positive in all circumstances, despite all negativity around and to follow your wildest dreams one step at the time!

Surround yourself with beautiful, colourful and uplifting things and use this new year as a fresh chance to write a better story for yourself.

No new year resolutions for me this year since I was not able to keep the ones I decided on last year, but I would rather wish for more quality over quantity in all areas of my life: more quality time with my family, better art works, better quality clothes and hope for a better/improved website.

Anyway, I am expecting a little girl in the hours/days to come so this will be my top priority in the coming months.

Creatively, I've registered for a new class called "Daring Adventures in Abstract Painting" starting on the 4th of January. I hope this 5 week online painting class by Mati Rose McDonough will help me improve my technique and be more playful and daring with my art.

That's it for me today but I am curious to hear what are your hopes and dreams for this new year.

Eclipse inspired

All over the news last week they were talking about the solar eclipse. These stories about the sun and the supermoon show us how small we are in the imensity of the universe.

Anyhow, it appears that I was thinking about this more than I realized, considering my last painting.

It looks a bit like a picture of the universe. But that's only my interpretation.

Actually, my son, when he first saw this painting told me it is scary.

That's kind of the purpose with abstract art. Each person should be able to see a story of their own.

Those of you who follow me on Instagram know that this painting went through so many changes. There were some parts I loved from the beggining and I did not had the courage to cover them and as you can see they are still there in the final painting.

So what do you see in this painting? Do you find all this black scary or do you think it adds value contrast? I am always so curious to hear what others find in a painting.

Thanks for now and have a great week!

New tools, new painting

Once in a while I find the time to go to the art shop and buy some new supplies. I rarely have a precise idea in mind before getting there and I always end up coming home with a big bag full of goodies.

Yesterday was no different and here is the result:

I was so intrigued by these 2 palette knifes and the new colours that I could not help but try them when I got home.

This way of working reminded me of when I was using oil paints and even the result is a bit similar:

Next week I will attend the " Salon Creativa" and "Artizan Art" that are taking place in Brussels from 12 to 15 March. For those who are interested to go, you can find more details on the http://brussels.creativa.eu/ .

It is the 3rd year when I am visiting this salon and even if it is not addressing only painting but all passions I always end up coming home with new supplies.

I will let you know next week how it went and maybe even take some pictures.

Is anyone else planning to attend?

That's it for now but have a great/sunny week and thanks for reading!

Happy Valentine's Day

I've already mentioned several times how much I love working on paper and I am not going to say the opposite this time.

Actually the more I do it, the more I like it.

Yesterday I've started working on a big canvas, while working in pararlel on paper. The canvas is so big, I even wonder if not too big for my taste. I am not sure yet, but I am about to discover.

Anyway the canvas painting still needs to be worked, yet the ones on paper are done.

The first one I decidedto call it "You belong with me" as a hint to Valentine's Day :)

Different colors and diffrent approach on the second one, with a lot more sparkle and drama. This one is called "Look at the bright side":

I wonder if you have a preference for one or the other so don't hesitate to leave a comment.

Also to receive future posts in your mailbox please subsribe to the blog.

Thanks for reading and have a great Valentine's Day!!

Paper love

Lately it's been quite cold in Brussels and to be honest I am barely going to my painting area in the basement.

My new art space is my living room, once everyone is asleep :).

Not always practical.

The other day, when doing an inventory of my art supplies, I've found some paper essays that were not complete.

I've decided to cut them in smaller pieces, so that I can easily paint them on my living room table. No easle or big gear needed.

This finding made everything much easier but above all it became very addictive.

Here are some of the small pieces that I have done on paper:

I love this process so much that I even bought some new pages of paper. I would like to try the same process in a bigger size. Let's see where all this gets me. I will also have to find adapted frames.

Oooh, that is so exciting.

Art love, paper love and canvas love. It's funny to see all these art pieces piling up.

I should really seriously start thinking about an exhibition soon.

Should you know a great place in Brussels, don't hesitate to write a message.

Thanks for reading and have a nice week!
